About me
Brecht is an audio engineer with a broad background comprising research, software development, management and creative practice. He holds a PhD from the Centre for Digital Music at Queen Mary University of London on the topic of intelligent software tools for music production, and a BSc and MSc in electronic engineering from the University of Ghent, Belgium, with a focus on audio signal processing and acoustics. He has published, presented and patented research on the perception of recording and mix engineering, intelligent audio effects, and the analysis of music production practices. His book “Intelligent Music Production” is published with Routledge in the “AES Presents…” series.
Currently Head of Research at PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts’ music department, he further teaches Loudspeaker Design at the joint Higher Course of Acoustics in Belgium and the Netherlands, and Research Methodology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague.
Brecht is also a longtime volunteer and President-Elect at the Audio Engineering Society.
